Bob Geldof
and the Bobkatz
Celebrating its 30 years, Sani Festival will rock! Spicing up its programme spectrum, Bob Geldof and the Bobkatz will go up Sani Hill and rock the summer night of July 30th. Αlongside the punk rock movement, Bob Geldof rose to prominence as the lead singer of the Irish rock band The Boomtown Rats in the ‘70s and ‘80s. His songs Rat Trap and I Don't Like Mondays topped the British and world charts, while over his career he has collaborated with multiple rock legends, such as David Gilmour of Pink Floyd, and Thin Lizzy. He launched his solo performances in 1986 and he is known for starring in Pink Floyd’s 1982 film Pink Floyd-The Wall. Most significantly, Geldof turned his attention to activism in 1984 with the foundation of the charity supergroup Band Aid to raise money for famine relief in Ethiopia, and as an organiser of the Live Aid Concerts. For his charity work, Geldof was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II, and has also been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize. Both as a rock star and an activist, we are ready to welcome Bob Geldof and the Bobkatz on the Sani Hill stage for a night of polite audacity, sprinkled with rock music gems!
