World's leading
luxury Green Resort
Sani Resort has been recognised as number one in the World’s Leading Luxury Green Resort category at the World Travel Awards - a win which adds significant value to our commitment to sustainability and strengthens our pledge to have positive social and environmental impact.
This award acknowledges sustainable and ethical business practises at a time where environmentally conscious travelling is growing increasingly important to holidaymakers. Each year, a series of successful sustainable practices are implemented across Sani Resort, and we remain dedicated to developing these initiatives, ready to introduce exciting new concepts for 2021 and beyond.
Sani Resort is proud to be celebrated in this arena at the World Travel Awards as acknowledgement of our numerous enhancements with regards to sustainability and responsibility. In particular, the Sani Green programme is focused on improving our sustainability performance, from energy efficiency and the use of renewable energy sources, to water conservation and sustainable procurement. Most importantly, each Sani Green initiative is supported by well-defined policies and measurable targets, all in line with the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Some notable successes of the programme include a 3% reduction in energy use in 2019, a 48% reduction in water use per guest since 2016 and the recycling of 219 tonnes of glass in 2019 alone. All single use plastics have been banned at the resort since 2019 and all electricity comes from renewable sources.

Set in a private 1,000-acre ecological reserve, Sani is embraced by nature, and is passionate about its preservation. With Blue Flag-awarded beaches, yachts and the Sani Marina, over 250-acres of protected wetlands and more than 20km of lush forest trails to explore, Sani Resort encourages guests to immerse themselves in their surroundings and reconnect with nature whilst on holiday through a wealth of eco-activities, excursions and experiences. This encouragement has seen a 680% increase in participants on Sani birdwatching tours since 2013, and over 3,400 guests taking part in a Sani Eco-Excursion in 2019 alone.
Our goal to become Greece’s first carbon neutral resort by 2023 is well on track due to the offsetting of carbon emissions. Our own renewable energy projects are already under development, and by 2024 we will be producing our own renewable energy, too.
Reopening in April 2021 with the #OnlyatSani Protocol and world-class health and safety measures, we welcome guests to an all-tested environment where they’ll truly make the most out of the great outdoors, enjoying a carefree escape to Sani Resort.
