Twenty years since her famous album ‘Careless Love’ sold half a million copies and ten years since her first performance at Sani Festival, Madeleine Peyroux returns to Sani Hill with her most courageous work to date, ‘Let’s Walk’. The album cleverly interweaves jazz, folk, and chamber pop, with themes ranging from the confessional to the political, whimsical and yearning. Peyroux's lyrics are laced with honesty and emotion, touching upon the pressing issues of our time with understanding and insight. Having begun her career as a teenager on the streets of Paris, the acclaimed singer-songwriter now sells out concert halls worldwide, wowing with a grace and gravitas reminiscent of Billie Holiday, while her brokenhearted alto reminds of the likes of Leonard Cohen, Tom Waits, Bob Dylan, Hank Williams, and Joni Mitchell. “Where hearts and minds will go, let's walk, let's roll", instructs Peyroux in the title track of her new album, and so to Sani Hill on Saturday, July 13, to listen to her dulcet tones under the starry Mediterranean sky.
